BIG CAR OPENER VICTIM OF INDIANA
RAIN!
|
The Premier Racing Associations inaugural event, the Circle City 100
at Indianapolis Raceway Park, was postponed Wednesday night and will
be rescheduled at a later date.
After 26 Big Cars had qualified and preparations were being made to
start the feature race, rain began falling on the I-R-P oval. When
it became evident the rain wasn’t going to stop soon, P-R-A
and I-R-P officials decided to postpone the event.
“We discussed several options”, stated P-R-A co-founder
Jason Smith, “and although no scenario pleases everyone, we
believe the solution we came up with is the best for our fans and
race teams. We will honor rain checks from Wednesday night at our
previously scheduled Big Car race at I-R-P on July 5th. Wednesday
night’s rained out race, will be rescheduled for a later date.”
Rescheduling for Thursday night was not an option due to the fact
that both the oval and drag strip at I-R-P were previously booked.
“We are as disappointed as anyone that the weather which washed
out two days of qualifying at the nearby Indianapolis Motor Speedway
last weekend, claimed our event too”, said Smith. “But
our spirits are not dampened and we look forward to our next event
at Illiana Motor Speedway in Schererville, Indiana June 13th”.
Race fans are urged to check our website www.praracing.com regularly
for information concerning Wednesday night’s rescheduled event.
